Those jc days...
Being the fair girl that i am, i shall blog abt my JC memories..though few and far in between, they are still very much a part of Siti NuraishahDear Siti Nuraishah when you were 17,18
At first you did not have many friends. Period. Being a girl who hailed and had her roots from Kallang, to go to a JC in Teck Whye was unheard of. Yet, Off you go not knowing what to expect in this new and long-distant journey. To your amazement, you met a fellow BENDEMEERIAN (ahem, sec. sch mate) amongst the throngs of PJC-ians...until you realised that the girl was a nerd who just want to hang out with her own skin colour (i am not being racist, but rather factual)..No, siti wasn't against nerds for siti was very much nerdy herself..
So in YOur first year, I remembered you felt awed by this huge clique and huge mass of personalities ranging from sporty to marilyn-monroe wannabe...and you felt..well, shy that you did have a shining, bubbling personality like them so you stuck to her dear small grp of friends namely Huiling and Rena who eventually went to a different class from You in Year 2...and everyone thought YOu were someone's shadow which was soo amusing because you, as always, though quiet as may be, can Never be anyone's shadow...Basically, I remembered you went thru Year 1 of Jc feeling awed and out of place...literally and figuratively lah. Besides JC life being a struggle (I knew even back then you was being stubborn refused to go to any JC or pre-u and slacked Ur life away for a solid 3 months b4 'o'level results)..
But in Yr 2nd year, I remembered You had to fight for survival of the A's just like everyone else..that's when i guessed..that's when everyone bonded..Besides the fact that our class were splitted literally in half because a few stayed back etc etc and our subject combis were wayy different and stood out literally...Geog/Or His, Lit and Maths C combo..no other classes in the level had the same combi..so we ended up being stuck with this class which took Malay/Chi or Tamil 'A', Maths AO, History, Econs..
and I remembered all of us felt our class were no longer special...in fact our class became plain weird..esp the guys who out of 4 or 5 (thx gdness there were onli 4 or 5) only 1 passed his Napfa...Our class were literally split btw our 2 different classes..During Gp, OUR class will be snoring literally at the back in various positions and various decibels of snores could be heard (exaggerate la!)..we were at the back b'cos the Geog ppl would be back frm their geog lecturers/tutorials to rejoin their History grpmates whu would complain abt their History Lecturer (reasons i've 4gotten why)...and hani would entertain us with her lameness as always..whateva happened to that marilyn monroe pose we took of her that 1 fine day and show dennis yeo?
So at the back of the class, we bonded...and we splitted further..those days when our 2 beloved belles sparked war against each other...them being best friends, almost sisters and then It happened..it was traumatising as much on the rest of us all...to be comforting 1, while the other half went to comfort the other...like hani might've said; 'ding-dong bell' or that farnie remark she made 'those 2 dumbells' in gp class 1 day... But as much as bad days went, there were those days we made a mess out of addy's kitchen because we were tryin to bake cookies...Those were the days where i really felt at home in the kitchen...You remembered right, Siti, those times when you felt so...GIRL!! (and i mean girly girl more than usual!)
and i remembered 15th of oct our graduation day (if i remembered correctly) the teachers played us an emotional farewell video where ming, justina and most of us broke down in tears b'cos even though the time spent in JC flew within 2 short years, sooo much memories were still being laid down and cemented....and after that where in the spirit of adventure, we tried to walk to Ten Mile Junction by crossing over the railway tracks and its long uncut grass full of Army Trained mosquitoes and this small bridge where some of us had to cross while wearing our pj-tight skirts n loose pants (yes, pjc girls wear pants literally, live and learn)
and yep we graduated =) through the damn A's...we made it just fine! with more cupcakes and brownies in between...
Love
Siti Nuraishah
